Uganda: Kanungu Leaders Give Museveni 2016 Ultimatum

Local leaders in the south-western district of Kanungu have written to State House, threatening to withhold support for President Museveni in 2016 over unfulfilled presidential pledges.

The statement comes ahead of the president's visit today to Kanungu, the home district of presumed political rival Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, to commission the Uganda Nursing School, Bwindi. In a strongly-worded four-page petition dated May 13, 2014, signed by the district chairperson Josephine Kasya and 16 other district councillors, Museveni is reminded of several unfulfilled pledges.
