Gambia: Prosecutor Rubbishes D25,000 Bribery Allegation

Chief Inspector Camara, who is prosecuting Lamin Jarju, a resident of Babylon and his brother Pa Momodou Jassey on allegations of resisting arrest, has rubbished the allegation made by the defense witness in the trial that D25,000 was given to Commissioner Benjamin Wilson of The Gambia Police Force to bribe him.

During cross-examination before Magistrate Dayoh of the Brikama Magistrates' Courts on Monday, Prosecutor Camara informed the court that the witness was in court just to testify in favor of Lamin Jarju, whom he the witness said was his longtime friend. The prosecutor put it to the witness that all what he (the witness) told the court apart from his name and his address are nothing but lies. But Sekuba Ceesay, the defense witness insisted that all what he told the court was nothing but the truth.
