Africa: 'Jammeh's Leadership Unique in Africa'

Acclaimed African-American singer, known as the 'First Lady of the Alternative Soul' has described as "unique" the leadership of the president of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh, crediting him for the many giant strides the country has been making. Yewande Austin, the Monarchy Records signed artist and CNN 2013 Hero Award nominee described Jammeh as the type of African leader who has so much passion for his country and commands an outpouring love from his people.

In a Daily Observer exclusive interview at her base at the Coco Ocean Hotel and Spa Tuesday, the soft-spoken articulate artist and activist didn't mince her words when she gave a frank take on the country and its people. She cited the size of the country that makes it possible for almost everyone to be connected to one another as well as the leadership of President Jammeh as the two most outstanding things that make The Gambia unique.
