Tanzania: Credit Growth to Private Sector Dwindles

THE annual growth of commercial lending to major economic activities in the country recorded a downward trend in March this year, the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) monthly economic review has stated.

The only positive trend was observed in the credit extended to agriculture sector which is the major source of incomes to most families that grew by 11.2 per cent in the month under review, up from 7.7 per cent of the previous year.
