Tanzania: Food Production Goes Up in Singida

Ikungi — FOOD production in Singida Region has improved, with hunger reducing from 40 to 3 per cent this year.

Speaking, Singida Regional Commissioner (RC), Mr Perseko Kone, said the success is a result of improved strategies in farming with modern agricultural technologies, insisting that farmers were successful after taking advantage of modern agricultural technologies.

He made the revelation during a meeting between Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Secretary General, Mr Abdulrhman Kinana and government leaders.

Speaking during the meeting, Mr Kinana highly commended the leaders efforts in reduction of hunger which has seen the region abstaining from depending on government.

"I commend the Regional Commissioner for the effort made," he said. He praised farmers for adapting modern agricultural Technologies, saying that the move will help the region improve its income and reduce poverty.

He stressed that farmers and the public in general should stick on modern agricultural technologies for the betterment of their region and the nation at large.
