Gambia: Youth Mobiliser Reaffirms Young People Support to V-2016

The ruling Alliance for Patriotic and Re-orientation and Construction (APRC) national youth mobiliser has reaffirmed the willingness and support of young people in ensuring the realisation of the 'Vision 2016 Agenda' of the President of the Republic that seeks to make The Gambia rice self-sufficient in 2016, thus ending decades-long dependence on foreign imports.

Nominated National Assembly Member, Hon. Babou Gaye-Sonko was speaking recently during the National Assembly adjournment debate at the Legislative Chambers. While describing the initiative by the Gambian leader as timely and apt, he called on all Gambians to put all hands on deck towards the realisation of the vision. "The youths are more than willing and ready to give their fullest support to the realisation of the Vision 2016 agenda. The vision cannot also be achieved without the members of the parliament complementing the efforts of the government as representatives of the electorate," Hon. Sonko told the Assembly. Shifting his attention on illegal migration, the APRC national youth mobiliser lamented this terrible situation, noting that uncountable number of lives continued to perish in sea. "The most unfortunate and saddest part of it is that most of them will force their parents just to undertake such risky journey," he stated.
