Nigeria: Okonjo-Iweala On Accountability

One of the gains of democracy is the right by the citizens to hold their leaders accountable to governance. While this enhances development in the society and improves standard of living of citizenry, it makes political office holders on the other hand, transparent and responsible in their duties to the populace.

Recently issue of holding political office holders accountable was at the front burner when the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala tasked Nigerians to challenge their governors to account for the monthly budgetary allocations they receive from the federation account.
