Nigeria: CMD - Lassa Fever Endemic in Ebonyi

Abakaliki — The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (FETHA), Ebonyi State, Dr. Paul Ezeonu said that the outbreak of lassa fever is endemic in Ebonyi with high percentage of those in the rural areas at the risk of the disease.

He, therefore, called on the Federal Ministry of Health to build a virology laboratory with Dialysis Lassa centre in the state to tackle the scourge of Lassa fever in the state. He said that the outbreak of lassa fever in the hospital calls for serious concern with the establishment of virology lab to help detect the virus for early treatment.
