Mangochi — The United Nations which is trying to help improve the widespread maternal health and mortality problem in developing countries, Malawi inclusive, is faced with yet a new phenomenon: obstetric fistula.
If the most recent incidences are anything to go by, then the problem of obstetric fistula which is quite often aggravated by teenage pregnancies and delivery without the hand of a trained and skilled health worker increases the pressure on the United Nations and other partners in ensuring a reduction in maternal mortality rate.
