Kenya: Epilepsy Drugs in the Budget

THE Kwale assembly has adopted a health report recommending the county government to set aside budget for epilepsy drugs in all heath facilities.

The motion for adoption of the report was moved on Thursday by nominated MCA Michael Mutua who said 99 dispensaries and three hospitals in the area need epilepsy drugs.

Bongwe Gombato ward representative Omar Boga supported the motion. He said there are more than 2,000 registered patients, whose majority are from Diani, are epileptic. Bongwe said most of them do not know where to get the drugs because the institutions offering such services are few.
