Kenya: Jumia's First Anniversary

E-commerce website Jumia celebrated their 1 year anniversary last Thursday at a dinner party at the Zen Gardens, Lower Kabete. Started in March last year by Nick Miller and Oscar Boré, Jumia has grown to become the leading online shopping portal.

Jumia Kenya MD Parinaz Firozi said the company is looking forward to even greater success in the years to come. "We are confident that Jumia will continue to grow while continuing to empower entrepreneurs in Kenya through our Marketplace as well as salesforce platforms."

The event also marked the launch of Marketplace, an online platform where merchants can sell their products online to Jumia's huge customer base.

It was attended by Aberdare Safari Hotels MD Ken Waibochi, EcoPlan director Lucie Wanjohi, GM vendor manager Lugard Chakava, Ovago East Africa MD Estelle Verdier-Watine, Miss World Kenya 2006 Shamillah Kiptoo and her husband Music Copyright Society of Kenya CEO Maurice Okoth.
