Nigerians Mourn Ado Bayero, the Late Emir of Kano

On Friday June 6th 2014, Nigerians received the news of the death of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Dr. Ado Abdullahi Bayero with great shock. According to family sources, cited by Sahara Reporters and other media, he was one of the most prominent traditional rulers of Nigeria. He passed away at the age of 84 in Kano in the early hours of Friday.

The burial ceremony in accordance with Islamic rites was held later that day; by 4 pm. Nigerians have reacted to the sad news. An ex FCT Minister, Nasir El-Rufai, has condoled with the family of the late Emir and, especially, his son, whom he called brother. Another Nigerian @dawisu tweeted about the death via his handle has this to say: "We have lost a father, we have lost a leader, we have lost a great man. Kano will never be the same RIP Ado Bayero". Reacting to his death, Nigerians sympathized with the Government and people of Kano state and prayed that God would grant the family the strength to bear the loss.
