Nigeria: Still No Love Lost Between Amaechi and FG

Questions have continued to buzz on the manner of "security reasons" that prompted the Federal Government's ban of private planes from landing at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano. Analysts also wonder who gave the order that led to the brief detention of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) at the airport and why.

Governor Amaechi who visited Kano on Sunday on a condolence visit, following the death of the late Emir, Ado Bayero was detained at the Kano airport after the private chartered plane he was travelling in made an air return due to bad weather at Abuja Airport. Reports had it that when the governor and his entourage came down from the aircraft, officials who claimed to be acting on orders from above did not allow them to leave the airport.
