Liberia: Total Expands Further

Total Liberia, the largest importer of petroleum product on the Liberian market has again added one station to its several stations in the country.

This time, in Central Liberia, Bong County, the company opened the station over the weekend.

At a colorful ceremony held in Gbarnga, several jubilant residents danced and sang as the doors of the station was opened to the public.

The French company, after construction of each station, hands it over to a Liberian for management; which is helping the government in her poverty reduction drive. Several Liberians have commended Total for such business plan.

During her speech at the opening ceremony, the City mayor of the Gbarnga, Madam Esther Warbey tanked Total management for extending their services to her place. She said, it will help ease gasoline problem in her county.

Several vehicle owners also commended Total for reaching to Gbarnga.

For his part, the General Manager of Total Liberia, Mr. Robert Fenech said Total was committed to empowering Liberian have access to energy.

" As a leading oil industry player, TOTAL's prime responsibility is to enable as many Liberians as possible to access energy. And TOTAL has made great strides in developing a socially sustainable and economic footprint throughout Liberia in support of the President's poverty reduction program."

He said, the company has made significant investment in Liberia. "To date, Total has invested more than 2 million $ in these Liberian entrepreneurs, including Abraham here today who has a loan approved from TOTAL of $170K."

He said, "the opening of Gbarnga under the T-AIR concept marks another important example of TOTAL's commitment to invest and be present in all Liberian communities and regions and to drive LIBERIANISATION. TOTAL has opened a number of service stations outside of Monrovia over the last few years, including Tubmanburg, Buchanan, Robertsport, Voinjama, Zorzor, Kakata, and Ganta," he said.

For his part, the Retail Manager, Mr. Victor Wallace said, Total is moving from better to great. "We continue to affirm our corporate goal to improve the petroleum industry in Liberia by international standards. A goal to provide a facility and service to our customers above competition. A continuity of investment in the young people of Liberia through the provision of sustainable business opportunities."
