Sudan: International Coalition Calls for Sudan to Stop Targeting Civilians

Addis Ababa — A substantial coalition of civil society groups from Africa and the Middle East on Tuesday addressed an open letter to the African Union Peace and Security Council. It appeals to them to intensify their efforts to foster peace in Sudan.

The letter comes as a direct reaction to the continued targeting of civilians in South Kordofan, however It also refers to 'an escalating military campaign' across Blue Nile and Darfur. The signatories voice their concern "that these actions are in violation of international law".
