Nairobi — The latest conflict in South Sudan has undermined much of the progress that had been made in education there since a 2005 peace accord between Khartoum and southern rebels ended decades of civil war.

Children account for around half of the 1.5 million people displaced internally or across borders since fighting between rival army factions broke out in mid-December.
