Nigeria: Sagay Insists On Reversal of Election Timetable

Lagos — Renowned constitutional lawyer, Professor Itse Sagay, yesterday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reverse the time-table for next year's general elections that put forward the presidential poll as the first election, describing it as a land mine primed to explode.

Prof. Sagay also cautioned INEC that all past electoral malpractices, including those of the Edo and Anambra governorship elections in 2012 and 2014 respectively, must be firmly eliminated and completely avoided in the forthcoming Ekiti and Osun State governorship elections, as well as next year's general elections.
