Zimbabwe: Donkey Strangles Boy, 4, to Death

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD Nyanga boy was strangled to death while teasing a family donkey that was tied to a tree outside his parents' homestead.

Tadiwa Moyo, who is from Madziwa under Chief Saunyama, was joyfully playing with the domestic animal away from his parents' view when the bizarre incident occurred last week.

In a bid to escape his childish advances, the frightened donkey entangled the rope around him.

He breathed his last when the utility animal finally broke off from the tree, in the process dragging the boy for some metres.

Tambudzai Machemedze, the 30-year-old mother to the minor, who was cooking in a hut, later discovered her son's lifeless body in the yard tied with a rope while the killer donkey was nowhere in sight.

A report was made to the police who attended the scene.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Enock Chishiri, confirmed the incident.

He urged parents to constantly check their children when they are playing alone to avoid such accidents.
