Tunisia: New Form of EU Support to Tunisia's Transition Process

Carthage — Chair of the European Union (EU) Political and Security Committee (PSC) Walter Stevens reasserted, on Friday, when conferring with Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki, full support of the European Union to Tunisia in its transition process, according to a statement of the Presidency of the Republic.

The talk turned on the security situation in Tunisia and in the region, in particular the developments in Libya, as well as the mechanisms of support to job creation projects and funding of small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Tunisia.

Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Fayçal Gouia attended the meeting.

The Political and Security Committee (PSC) is a permanent structure of the Council of the European Union (EU) made up of 28 EU state members.

The PSC contributes to drafting and implementation of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).
