Cuiaba — After Nigeria wiped away the memory of the abysmal opening game against Iran with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday night in Cuiaba, Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, is now focused on playing in the second round of the ongoing World Cup here in Brazil.
Speaking at the post match conference at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba, the 52-year-old gaffer insisted that despite the criticism that heralded the barren game with Iran he never for once lost hope of Nigeria making it into the second round from the Group F. "The fighting spirit we showed was good," he said. "I never thought that we wouldn't make the round of 16. I have the players to do the job. But look at Iran today, if it was not for Lionel Messi, Argentina wouldn't have won," stressed the former Togo and Mali coach. But Keshi who has this strategy of taking one game at a time, wants all focus to be on Nigeria's last group match with Argentina on Wednesday in Porto Alegre. A draw will see Nigeria finishing second while victory over the Albeceleste will put the Africa Cup of Nations winners on top of Group F, with the prospect of playing either Switzerland or France. "We need to work hard for the game against Argentina.
