Malawi: Final Cabinet Appointments Finally Out

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the president by section 92(1) as read with section 94(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, has appointed the following additional members of the cabinet with effect from 22nd June, 2014.

1 State president, Minister of Defence and Commander-in- Chief of the Malawi Defence Force and The Malawi Police Services, - His Excellency Professor Arthur Mutharika.

2 Vice President and Minister responsible for Civil Service - Right Honorable Saulos Klaus Chilima.

3 Minister of Trade and Industry - Honourable Joseph Mwanamveka, M.P.

4 Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare - Honourable Patricia Anne Kaliati, M.P.

5 Minister of Natural Resourses, Energy and Mining - Honourable Atupele Austin Muluzi, M.P.

6 Minister of Local Government and Rural Development - Honourable Trasizio Thom Gowelo, M.P.

7 Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development - Honourable Bright Msaka, S.C.

8 Minister of Home Affairs - Honourable Paul Chibingu, M.P.

9 Deputy Minister of Defence - Honourable Jappie Chancy Mtuwa Mhango, M.P.

10 Deputy Minister of Education Science and Technology - Honourable Vincent Winstone Ghambi, M.P.

According to Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) the swearing-in ceremony for the Ministers and Deputy Ministers will be held at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on Monday 23rd June, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. OPC has therefore advised all concerned Ministers and Deputy Ministers to be present for this important function.
