Nigeria: Okagbare Dominates AFN/CRS All Nigeria Athletics

23 June 2014

An Olympics medalist as a teenager, Okagbare success in the women 100m is her sixth consecutive title in the event, a feat that is unequalled in the history of Nigeria track and field. Her good form in the 200m gives confidence that Okagbare is not only in top shape, she also has what it takes to win three medals at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Speaking at the championships Okagbare said "I want to say thank you to God because it is a privileged to triumph". She also debunked media report that her winning her sixth title means she equaled a mark set earlier "I saw something in the paper saying i will be the second woman alive to have won the 100m race six times. I want to say that is a wrong impression, i am the only woman to have won it six times. The target now is to win the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, and bring honour to Nigeria," she said.
