Tanzania: Kikwete, Dangote Hold Talks Over Cement Firm

PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete on Monday met Africa's richest business magnate, Mr Aliko Dangote from Nigeria, and held talks on the multi-billion cement factory whose construction is going on in Mtwara Region.

During the meeting held at State House in Dar es Salaam, Mr Dangote said the factory will be the largest in the East and Central Africa.

The statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communication pointed out that President Kikwete has been in the forefront, pushing for the construction of the plant.

Largely, Mr Kikwete pushed for the establishment of the factory with the aim of improving investment and bolstering the quality of cement in the country.

The Nigerian billionaire industrialist was quoted by the media yesterday as saying that when the plant starts work next year, they will look on how to reduce pressure on the price of the product.
