Zambia: Hot Fm Meets With Broadcasting Authority About Request to Apologise to 'State House'

On 17 June 2014, Hot FM Radio management met with the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) to discuss the directive the authority issued to the station to issues apologies for making a comment in reference to the president's health.

Hot FM, a commercial radio station broadcasting mainly in the capital city and surrounding areas, was asked by the IBA to retract and apologise for what the IBA termed offensive material aired during its breakfast show that discussed the president's health. However, the Zambian President is on record as having said Zambians have the right to discuss his health.
