Minister of Petroleum Eng. Sheriff Ismail said that the petroleum sector is currently planning to finish the implementation of a number of projects in order to be added to the production map to meet the country's needs. He noted that according to studies and scientific researches, areas in the Western Desert are rich with gas and petroleum.

The Minister's remarks came during his inspection tour of the second stage of a project implemented by a petroleum company in the Western Desert. He explained that the government is keen to pay back the foreign partner's share estimated at $1.5 billion.

Minister Ismail further added that about 1.150 million cubic feet of gas would be added to the production map by the end of current year.
