When proceedings resume at the North Gauteng High Court this morning, the defence's fifteenth witness - Sports Medicine Professor Wayne Derman - will take up his position on the stand again. The word is that Derman is indeed the defence's last witness, testifying as to Pistorius's disability and the possibility that his heightened sense of anxiety may even have influenced his brain's response to threat.

09.00 Derman is back on the stand first thing this morning, being questioned by Kenny Oldwadge for the defence, with Barry Roux sitting back for this final stretch. When court adjourned on Wednesday afternoon, Derman was getting to the crux of his evidence: that people who suffer from anxiety may struggle to control automatic responses to what they perceive as a threat.
