Gambia: Ebola Sensitisation Campaign Reaches Foni

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare's ongoing public prevention and awareness campaign and sensitisation on the deadly Ebola virus has reached Foni, with alkalolus and women councilors amongst others sensitised on the virus in the Foni Bondali District.

The sensitisation held at Bullenghat village focuses on harnessing the awareness of the local authorities on the virus and prevention. The chief of the District, Bakary Dembo Badjie, commended the Gambia health authorities for the sensitisation. He said that during the discussions, it was confirmed that a direct contact with persons infected by Ebola is considered the principal mode of its transmission. He also urged the participants to play pivotal roles in disseminating the information to their communities.
