Angola: Over 1,000 Cattle Auctioned At Expo/Cunene

Ondjiva — At least 1,200 cattle will be auctioned during Expo/Cunene 2014, set for 19 July in Ondjiva city, to mark 44 years of southern Cunene province to be celebrated on 10 July, said on Thursday to Angop, the coordinator of organizing commission of the event, António Alves.

According to the official, the animals most of them of brahamen race, white, mix, simba and zebu, are from national and neighboring Namibian breeders.

António Alves considered the event as being of capital importance, in the ambit of reinforcing programme of boosting cattle breeding, as it is a potential of the region.

He stressed that the event is one of the main features of Expo/Cunene that is held annually as part of the anniversary of Cunene province to be marked on 10 July, a date that marks its dismembering from the former Huila district in 1970.
