Liberia: Finance Responds to Koffi Woods' 'Sinister Motive' Claim

The Ministry of Finance has reacted to claims made by former Minister of Public Works, Atty. Koffi Woods, that its merger with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs is a "sinister move" without an audit.

In a Monday, July 07, 2014 letter, less than 24 hours after the publication of the story in the Inquirer newspaper, Minister Amara Konneh clarified the Ministry had requested a "financial and system audit" since May 30, 2014 for all of the fiscal periods between 2011 and 2014.

In his letter, Minister Konneh explained that the audit was geared towards closing the financial books of both ministries, which as mandated by law will become the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) as mandated by law.
