Angola: Governor Tells Banks to Avoid Delay in Paying Salaries

Uige — The provincial governor of Uige province, Paulo Pombolo, Monday in this city urged commercial banks to provide quick service, especially in the payment of salaries of civil servants.

The governor, who made this appeal during a meeting held with heads of banks operating in the province, said that the banks should work to avoid any delays in payment of salaries of civil servants.

He said the government has timely given the orders for withdrawal, for banks to process payroll.

According to the governor, there are workers who depart from outlying municipalities and remain in the city of Uige a week waiting for wages because of the weakness recorded in 10 bank branches operating in the province.

Paulo Pombolo stated that the work of banks caused delay in payment of salaries to civil servants during the month of June, adding that there is no reason for there to be a delay in payment of salaries of workers.
