Gambia: GRTS' Bernadette Bags 'Best' Int'l Award On Water, Environment

A principle producer at The Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) Radio, Bernadette Sanneh, was recently awarded for producing the "Best English Radio Programme on Water and Environment".

The Global Water Partnership Organisation in West Africa and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) presented the award to Sanneh during the Africa Water Forum meeting held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Reacting to her award in an interview with the Daily Observer, Sanneh expressed her gratitude to the organisers for this recognition, adding that she was emotional when she was declared winner at the event. She thanked the late Modou S. Jallow, former hydrologist specialist at Water Resources, for taking her and two other Gambians to participate in a training workshop in Ghana on the 'role of women in water management, production and accessibility in West Africa'. "Since that Ghana meeting, we meet annually at different selected countries in West Africa as 'Shareinfo Network Journalists on Water and Environment," Sanneh told the Daily Observer.
