Gambia: Mauritanian Envoy Meets Jammeh

A special envoy of the president of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania Thursday afternoon met with the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh at State House in Banjul.

Naha Mint Mouknass, Mauritanian minister of Commerce, was in the company of The Gambia's minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, Bala Garba Jahumpa, who is currently overseeing the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Speaking to the State House press corps at the end of his meeting with President Jammeh, the envoy said she was in Banjul to deliver a message of solidarity and goodwill from His Excellency President Mohammed Abdoul Aziz.

"I have the honour to be received in audience by His Excellency the president of the Republic of The Gambia to whom I have transmitted messages of goodwill from his Mauritanian counterpart, His Excellency, Mohammed Abdoul Aziz. I have also transmitted to him special messages of goodwill, solidarity, for cooperation to be reinforced between the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Republic of The Gambia and it was a great pleasure to find myself here in Banjul," she concluded.
