Tunisia: Djerba - Interior Ministry Denies Having Shot Live Bullets At Protesters in Guellala

Tunis — The Interior Ministry, on Friday, denied, having shot live bullets at demonstrators who were protesting against the re-opening of a landfill in Guellala, Djerba.

In a press release issued Friday, the Ministry said the police fired tear gas to disperse a crowd of protesters who blocked the road leading to the landfill while preventing garbage trucks from accessing the area.

According to the press release, a group of protestors set fire to the facade of the directorate of the landfill as well as to several offices and threw stones at the police.
