Egypt: Sisi Calls for Unity to Achieve Egyptian People's Aspiration - Spokesman

President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi said during his participation on Wednesday at an annual Ramadan Iftar banquet of the Armed Forces that this yearly national unity occasion has a symbolic meaning emphasizing the value of the cohesion and solidarity among the people of the nation both Muslims and Christians, Said Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Ihab Badawi.

The spokesman said that Sisi urged all those present to maintain this spirit of unity and solidarity to help Egypt overcome the challenges of the present critical stage and achieve the hopes and aspirations of its people.

The banquet was attended by Defense Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General Sedqi Sobhi, Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Lt. General Mahmoud Hegazi and commanders of the main branches of the Armed Forces and other military top brass.

Attending as well were senior state officials led by Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb and Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II as well as prominent public figures and intellectuals.
