Nigeria: U.S. Ends U.S.$20 Million Support for 50,000 Orphans

A five-year project to assist orphans and vulnerable children in 11 states funded by the American government has ended, with claims it reached more than 50,000 children orphaned or left vulnerable on account of illness or death of adults around them.

The community-based support for orphans and vulnerable children (CUBS) was estimated at N3.25 billion ($20m), and funded by the US Presidents Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the US Agency for International Development.
