Liberia: Nimba Citizens Want Rioters Prosecuted

Citizens of Nimba County have expressed remorse over last week's violence of their kinsmen at the ArcelorMettal calling for prosecution of those arrested in connection with the violence, which left the facilities looted and vandalized.

"Obviously this seems a well-planned and well-coordinated act of violence and vandalism. We are confident that the law enforcement authorities will soon discover the identity of perpetrators responsible for this distasteful act and bring them to justice using the full force of the law," a statement from a Concerned Citizens of the county said. The statement coming from at least sixteen prominent citizens of the county including Secretary General of the ruling Unity Party, Wilmot Paye, stressed that those responsible for the violence be independently prosecuted in keeping with the law of the land.
