Tanzania: Mattresses Firm Gets International Standard Quality Certification

Vita Foam has stated that all its premium products will be bar-coded making them easily identifiable and authentic.

This was revealed by Vita Foam Chief Executive Officer, Mr Surag Chandalia, when the company was being awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification for compliance with the internationally recognized quality management standards.

"These products will be available in major shopping supermarkets and company dealers and it will also help classify the manufacturing date for warranty related claims from clients," said Mr Chandalia.

He, however, said that Vita Foam has become the first and only mattress company in Tanzania to achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification; adding that certification of compliance recognizes that the policies, practices and procedures of Vita Foam ensure consistent quality in the products and services the company provides to its customers.

The Marketing Manager of GS1 TZ National Ltd, Ms Esther Budili said that acquiring the certification is one thing and having to maintain the status is another.

"Vita Foam has done something that should be emulated by other companies and entrepreneurs by doing so their products will win recognition inside and outside the country," said Ms Budili.

Ms Budili said that registering products with barcodes can allow them to be exported in different parts of the world and acquire markets.

On his side, the Representative of ISO Management Standard Tanzania, Mr Boniface Kanemba said that every year his company will be auditing the performance of Vita Foam to make sure they maintain its standard.

Vita Foam is a leader in the manufacture of various types of bedding products that range from foam mattresses, spring mattresses, and orthopaedic mattresses to pillows, bedding ancillary and bath linen.

In the foam category the company's flagship brands are Vita Raha and Vita Supreme which is TBS certified and come with manufacturing warranty.
