Gambia: Gamtel Economic Crimes Suspect Charged

The director of public prosecution SH Barkun, has filed in three-count charges of economic crimes against one Tahar Haquari for the offence of illegally diverting international calls from the country's main tele-communication giant (Gamtel).

The suspect, who is charged at the High Court, presided over by Justice Mikailu Abdulahi, had denied the offence, hence the prosecution led by the DPP called witnesses to support his case. However, Tuesday's proceedings could not continue as expected, thanks to the absence of the defence counsel in court, hence the case has been adjourned to 24th July 2014, for continuation.
