Kenya: High Court Gives Prosecutors 30 Days to Investigate Lamu County Governor

Kenya's High Court in Mombasa granted prosecutors one month to complete their investigations on Lamu County Governor Issa Timamy's alleged involvement in the killings in Mpeketoni and nearby villages last month, Kenya's Capital FM reported Thursday (July 17th).

The prosecution requested two months to complete investigations on grounds that some witnesses were among those displaced by the violence in Lamu County. However, Judge Martin Muya said "an extension for two months is deemed unreasonable. It will be prejudicial for this matter to hang on him for inordinate duration."
