Maputo — The Mozambican state has always been willing to guarantee the security of Afonso Dhlakama, leader of the former rebel movement Renamo, according to Edson Macuacua, the spokesperson for President Armando Guebuza.
Reacting to Renamo statements, echoed in some of the media, according to which Dhlakama is unable to leave his current hideout, somewhere on the slopes of the Gorongosa mountain range, in the central province of Sofala, because of fears for his safety, Macuacua declared categorically on Wednesday that Dhlakama is free to move wherever he likes in Mozambican territory, with his security guaranteed by the state.
