Mozambique: Power Cut Hits Fourteen Neighbourhoods

Maputo — More than a hundred thousand clients were left without electricity in the Mozambican capital, Maputo, following a break in the distribution system on Tuesday. The power cut affected fourteen neighbourhoods.

According to the daily newspaper “Noticias”, the supply system was taken out of action when a truck hit an electricity pylon in the outer Maputo neighbourhood of Jardim.

This left almost half the capital without power: Polana-Caniço; Coop; Polana Cimento; Mafalala; Aeroporto; Triunfo; Ferroviário; Albazine; Costa do Sol; Chiango; Romão; Malhangalene and 25 de Junho.
