Somalia: Somali Constitutional Review Commission Seeks Govt Funding

Chairperson of Somalia's Independent Review and Implementation Commission Asha Gelle Diriye has called on the Somali government to fund the constitutional review process, Radio Bar-Kulan reported Thursday (July 17th).

At a meeting of stakeholders in Mogadishu that included members of the commission, government officials and civil society representatives, Diriye called on the government to ensure the timely completion of the constitutional review by providing financial support.

Somali Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Farah Abdulkadir also stated that the government would honour its promise to give final say on the constitutional review to the Somali people, in an effort to ensure the process is Somali-led and Somali-owned.
