Kenya: MP Seeks Boost for Pyrethrum

NAIVASHA MP John Kihagi has called for the liberalisation of the pyrethrum sector to boost production.

He said the sector has high potential of earning the country and Naivasha millions of shillings.

"Some years ago pyrethrum used to be a crop that empowered many farmers but this has changed in the last couple of years," he said.

The MP said Naivasha is one of the leading growers of the produce in Nakuru county though there was no store in the area.

He said farmers are incurring heavy losses ferrying their produce to Nakuru.

Kihagi urged the Pyrethrum Board of Kenya to act.
