Gambia: Two Hit Gamcel 1st Draw

At least two subscribers of The Gambia's national GSM Operators, Gamcel, has been fetched out as winners of the Gamcel's first promotional draw this year. The promotional package, which was recently launched and will last for several weeks will avail the ten Gamcel subscribers to win ten Hajj Tickets. The first draw was held Wednesday at the Company's head office, along Mamadi-manjang highway in Kanifing. The draw session was also witnessed by Senior Staff of the company, subscribers, the press among other attendees, punctuated with a display of Gamcel banners, bearing the Company's Slogan, "Gamcel Yaay Borom". Ramous Nyass-Hydara, the deputy general manager, explained that for subscribers to be part of the draws, they should buy a D100 scratch card or Nopal and refill their account, which will automatically qualify them to stand a chance of winning. Madam Nyass-Hydara emphasised that the promotion is not a raffle, and as recommended by Gambia Supreme Islam Council it is a genuine course, geared towards sharing with the customers. "Since the Hajj Ticket was 60,000 and now increased to over 100.000, we are still sending people to Hajj. It shows that we value our customers and share the little we have with them," she said.

Gamcel deputy general manager disclosed that the winners of the 1st draw are Amadou Bah and Karra Jagne, adding that this is what they have been anticipating every year. "Gamcel will send ten-people to either Mecca, Rome or Jerusalem," she added.

She emphasized that Gamcel is a Gambian company, which brought communication to the doors steps of every Gambian. "We have an obligation to maintain the company for customers' satisfaction that can continue and be sustained by every Gambian in the future," Nyass-Hydara noted.

Manyima Cham-Njie, manager of marketing communication, disclosed that the package has been ongoing for several years now, nothing that they don't just stop at Hajj tickets, but give each customer US$1000, suitcase and take them to the airport and receive them upon their return. "We make sure that the winners' vaccinations and passport are all being paid by Gamcel, all we need from the customers is to load 100 scratch or Nopal credit," she said.

Lamin Fofana, the manager product development and research, noted that Gamcel is not only sending ten lucky winners to Hajj, but two of Gamcel staff will perform one of the most important pillars of Islam.
