Nigeria: Former Petroleum Minister, Rilwanu Lukman, Dies At 75

Former Petroleum Minister, Alhaji Rilwanu Lukman, is dead. Born in Zaria, Kaduna State, he was 75 years old. Lukman who was also former Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) died in Austria at 1:00 AM Monday, sources said.

However, Lukman was equally Minister of Mines, Power and Steel from 1984 to 85, after which he was appointed Minister of Petroleum Resources, a position he held from 1986 to 1989.He was OPEC scribe for the period. He was later appointed Foreign Affairs Ministry between 1989-90 during the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.
