Gambia: Gains Made in the Area of Judiciary Since 1994

Judiciary as the third branch of government plays an essential role towards achieving sustainable human, political and socio-economic development of any given country. Its primary role is to dispense or adjudicate justice without fear, favour, affection or ill-will in accordance with the constitution and other laws of the land.

There is no doubt that an effective and efficient judicial system serves as a cornerstone of any country's good governance; and a source of encouragement for attracting both foreign and local investors. Being aware of such, the judiciary since 1994 to date has undergone massive transformation in all facets.
