Kenya: DP Ruto's Twitter Account Hacked

Deputy President William Ruto is the latest high profile official within the government to have his official Twitter account hacked.

This comes in the week that saw the official Kenya Defence Forces and the Liaison and Protocol officer Emmanuel Chirchir also had their accounts compromised and abusive messages posted.

Both KDF and Chirchir's account were momentarily recovered only for the hacker branded as Anonymous to gain access to them and carry on with the comical posts.

Among some information that has been posted on the account is an alleged mobile phone number belonging to Ruto, and other government websites that have been hacked.

The websites are Integrated Financial Management Information System (ifmis.go.ke), and Immigration and Registration of Persons (http://www.mirp.go.ke). KDF have subsequently shut down their Twitter account.
