Zimbabwe: Zanu-PF MP Abducted As Baba Jukwa Saga Takes Ugly Twist

ZANU PF MP for Mutare South, Irene Zindi, was on Friday abducted by three men who claimed to be police detectives investigating the Baba Jukwa case.

The three were driving a Ford Forest vehicle.

Zindi told NewZimbabwe.com in a telephone interview that she was still in a state of shock over the incident.

"Three men came to my residence and said they wanted me to accompany them to the police station as they were members of the police team investigating the Baba Jukwa case," Zindi said.

"I complied and after driving for several metres the men stopped and threw me out of the car and drove away. I then reported the matter to the police."

Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the incident and said the MP had also lost several valuables.

She appealed to members of the public with any information about the incident to contact their nearest police station.
