Nigeria: Moonsighting Controversy - Islamic Group, Ogun Cleric Pass Votes of Confidence On Sultan

As controversy continues to rage over the sighting of the new month of Shawwal in Nigeria, an Islamic organisation, the Muslim Rights Concern [MURIC], has backed the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar, saying he did the right thing by announcing an end to the annual Ramadan fast on Saturday.

There was confusion on Saturday night over whether the new moon of Shawwal was sighted in Nigeria to mark the end of the Muslim Ramadan fast.
