Kenya: We Will Build Our Own Fertiliser Plant - Ruto

A fertiliser manufacturing plant will be built in the county within two year, Deputy President William Ruto has said.

"We must have our own plant to produce fertiliser that meets our crop and soil specifications. This will boost agricultural production and farmers' incomes," he said. Ruto said Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka's Sh100 million fertilizer and seed subsidy to farmers will save farmers from high costs of farm inputs. It is a well-thought-out and visionary idea because it will achieve food security and economically strengthen farmers, he said "Devolving the ministries of Agriculture and Health was the right thing that guarantees better management and supervision at the grassroots.
